Dems blocks oil exploration in Alaska again.

Again the environmentalist wackos have gotten to the Democrats on a bill that would help out in reducing the price of oil. It may not reduce the price of oil today or in the near future, but when oil production was online it would reduce our dependence on foreign oil and would lower the prices world-wide.  But of course anyhting that would harm Gaia to the Left is a no go.  So we are going to have rsing prices of oil for the forseeable future most likely unless President Bush's pow wow with the Saudis has them increase production.

And all of us are still wondering where the Democrats plan is to lowerthe price of oil.   Ithas risen at a higher rate since they took over both he House and the Senate.  Wasn't one of their big plans and promises to lower gas prices????  Oh, I get it, they will just tax the Oil Conpanies to lower prices.   Yes, that will do it. The Democrats lack of unserstanding of the economy is disturbing.   If they actually think that taxing the oil Companies into lowering prices, they have got another thing coming.   Even if they get rid of the oil taxes and tax the Oil Companies, the price will be the same.  The taxes on the Oil Companies will only go to the consumer anyway.    The Democrats are hoping the public is dumb enough to think their taxing the Oil Companies is a good idea, because of those evil profits the Oil Companies are making.

Senate rejects GOP oil drilling plan

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate has rejected a Republican energy plan that calls for opening an Alaska wildlife refuge and some offshore waters to oil development. Supporters of the measure couldn't get the needed 60 votes to overcome a Democratic-led filibuster threat.

Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said more domestic oil production is needed to keep prices in check and to reduce U.S. dependence on oil imports.

Opponents said areas such as the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and coastal waters that have been off limits to drilling for 25 years ought to remain that out of bounds to oil companies. The GOP measure, defeated Tuesday by a vote of 56-42, would have allowed coastal states to get a waiver to the offshore drilling ban. ---Associated Press

Obama and Lebanon

bAnother good post at The American Thinker.   This one is about BHO's his foreign policy towards Lebanon or his naivete of the situation in Lebanon.   He does have some of the most Anti-Semetic foreign ppocy advisors inthe country.  And if you sit down and talk to Hezzbollah or any of the Syrian/Iranian infiltrators into Lebanon's government, you will only embolden them  to attack Israel more. Obamassiah's foreign policy naivete is appauling and should make most Americans cringe every word that comes out ofhis mouth about foreign policy, but in good old Socialist fashion, our schools and the MSM  have dumbed down our citizens to go along with the program.

Scary Signals: Obama's Ideology Hints At Dangerous Policy

By Barry Rubin

One of many scary things about Senator Barrack Obama is how mistaken his ideology makes him, even when he thinks he's getting it right. If Obama shows disastrous positions even when still trying to make voters think him supportive of Israel or tough on Hezb'allah what would he do if he actually were to become president?

Let's examine two official Obama statements to see why they appear good superficially and incredibly worrisome when analyzed.
Senator Barrack Obama's official statement on Israel's sixtieth birthday is, on the face of it, good. But it is in fact almost contemptuous. It is boring boiler plate, which could have been written by anyone at any time in the last forty years, with no personal touch.
One thing he doesn't do is to associate himself personally and his program with Israel. It would have been easy if he cared -- or if his campaign saw this as anything but throwing a bone to the Jews -- for him to put in something distinctive like: "Israel is living proof that change can happen. It is a country that has always said `Yes, we can!' despite great obstacles."
But no, he just puts in a few clichés as if to highlight his belief that he can get away with anything and still keep gullible Jewish voters.---The American Thinker

Will the Real Barak please stand up

This reminds me of the song by Slim Shady (Emimem). "Will the real Slim Shady please stand up".  Ok, we know Barak "Middle Name not Mentioned because that would be racist" Obama is all about change. But what kind of change????  Well, I think that Peggy Shapiro figured out what kind of change Barak is all about.  And it is not a change for the better, it is business as usual for the Democrats to play both sides of every issue, depending on which crowd is in the audience that night.  And that is exactly what BHO's change is.

The Obama Change We Really Can Believe In

By Peggy Shapiro

Barack Obama's call to action is "Change we can believe in." I would love to believe it, but until now I haven't even been able to understand it. What is going to change?  With his latest about face on direct talks with Iran's Ahmadinejad, Obama has finally clarified what he is going to change: his opinion. From terror to funding for tots, where there's controversy and two sides to be wooed, there is the Obama about-face.
On unconditional presidential meeting with terror-sponsoring states: Yes to No
This week, Obama's key foreign policy advisor, Susan E. Rice, told the New York Times that Obama never claimed he would be willing to meet "unconditionally" with Iran's president  Mr. Ahmadinejad. Dr. Rice said that Obama would not meet at the presidential level with this Iran or any other so-called "rogue" state without the preparation to use such a meeting as leverage for change. In fact, it was only right-wing machinations or imagination that "distorted and reframed" Obama's views.
That was certainly a change from numerous statements candidate Obama made on the same topic.  Did John McCain enter the following posting on Obama's campaign website? "Obama is the only major candidate who supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions."---The American Thinker

Man Dressed as Darth Vader Attacks Jedi Church Founders

HOLYHEAD, Wales (AP) -- A man who dressed up as Darth Vader, wearing a garbage bag for a cape, and assaulted the founders of a group calling itself the Jedi church was given a suspended sentence Tuesday.

Arwel Wynne Hughes, 27, attacked Jedi church founder Barney Jones -- aka Master Jonba Hehol -- with a metal crutch, hitting him on the head, prosecutors told Holyhead Magistrates' Court.

He also whacked Jones' 18-year-old cousin, Michael Jones -- known as Master Mormi Hehol -- bruising his thigh in the March 25 incident, prosecutors said.

The two cousins and Barney Jones' brother, Daniel, set up the Church of Jediism, Anglesey order, last year. Jedi is the faith followed by some of the central characters in the "Star Wars" films.

The group, which claims about 30 members, says on its Web site that it uses "insight and knowledge" from the films as "a guide to living a better and more worthwhile life."

"We all love the films and what they stand for. Obviously some people are going to laugh about it," the Wales on Sunday newspaper quoted Barney Jones as saying last month. "But a lot of people do take it seriously."

Unfortunately for Hughes, his March attack was recorded on a video camera that the cousins had set up to film themselves in a light saber battle.

"Darth Vader! Jedis!" Hughes shouted as he approached.

Hughes claimed he couldn't remember the incident, having drunk the better part of a 2 1/2-gallon (10-liter) box of wine beforehand.

"He knows his behavior was wrong and didn't want it to happen but he has no recollection of it," said Hughes' lawyer, Frances Jones.

District Judge Andrew Shaw sentenced Hughes to two months in jail but suspended the sentence for one year. He also ordered Hughes to pay $195 to each of his victims and $117 in court costs.

In the 2001 United Kingdom census, 390,000 -- 0.7 percent of the population -- listed Jedi as their religion.

Statesmen by dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand....The only foundation of a free Constitution, is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People, in a great Measure, than they have it now, They may change their Rulers, and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty.-- John Adams (letter to Zabdiel Adams, 21 June 1776

Bob Barr joins the fray

well, Bob Barr has enterd the race for the Presidency.   He says he is in to win.  Seriously, howmuch chance does he got??  I have always liked Bob Barr, but he will have no traction in the Geneal Elections.  He has as nuch chance as Ron Paul has as the GOP Nominee.  This election has turned into one of the most exciting that I have ever saw.  Relly, both of the front runnersi the Democrat and Republican race do not have full support from their base.  So I am sure that Barr and Nader will get some more votes than in years past, but neither have a real chance at winning.

Bob: I’m in it to win it

POSTED May 13, 2:34 AM

Before you walk into the National Press Club’s John Peter Zengler Room, you pass a framed comic strip in which one panel features a cop saying, “I dunno ... some guys do the dumbest things.”

That was from a cartoon called “Potsy” that used to run in The Daily News ages ago, but as one sat through former Georgia congressman Bob Barr’s press conference Monday in which he announced his candidacy for president of the United States as a Libertarian, it was hard not to think that, well, some things never change: Some guys just do the dumbest things.

It’s been more than 450 days since Sen. Barack Obama announced his candidacy, and 383 since Sen. John McCain threw his hat in the ring, but Bob Barr is hoping that the best things come to those who wait.

“My name is Bob Barr and I’m a candidate for the presidency of the United States of America,” he told a small room of reporters, pre-empting them by raising the obvious question himself: “You might say Bob Barr, why are you running for president?”

Well, Barr tried to explain, articulating his desire to “cut the size, scope and power of government.” He spoke out in favor of the separation of powers, but against “a government run amok fiscally.” He said the American people “want a choice” and a restoration of habeas corpus.

But perhaps instead of explaining why he’s running, Barr should have explained how he could possibly take the White House. But that wasn’t to happen. “Please save any procedural questions for after the news conference,” said Barr’s political adviser, Russ Verney. OK, but what about money, Bob? “We have a substantial budget.” What swing states do you think you can win? Barr said he’s got a good plan for winning the Electoral College, but wouldn’t spill the beans.

“Look, I’m in it to win it,” said Barr. “I’m not getting in this race to make a point. ... I’m not getting into this race to be a spoiler — I’ve got better things to do.”

And maybe Barr’s candidacy isn’t a total waste, after all: After the conference, Barr was informed that he had just won one of those very precious political commodities: a delegate. Stewart Flood, a delegate with the Libertarian Party in South Carolina, proudly walked up to Barr to declare himself the first Liberatarian delegate to endorse Barr.

“He’s in it to win it,” said Flood. “Make no mistake about it.”

Mary Queen of Scots defeated

At the Battle of Langside, the forces of Mary Queen of Scots are defeated by a confederacy of Scottish Protestants under James Stewart, the regent of her son, King James VI of Scotland. During the battle, which was fought out in the southern suburbs of Glasgow, a cavalry charge routed Mary's 6,000 Catholic troops, and they fled the field. Three days later, Mary escaped to Cumberland, England, where she sought protection from Queen Elizabeth I.

In 1542, while just six days old, Mary ascended to the Scottish throne upon the death of her father, King James V. Her great-uncle was Henry VIII, the Tudor king of England. Mary's mother sent her to be raised in the French court, and in 1558 she married the French dauphin, who became King Francis II of France in 1559 and died in 1560. After Francis' death, Mary returned to Scotland to assume her designated role as the country's monarch. In 1565, she married her English cousin Lord Darnley, another Tudor, which reinforced her claim to the English throne and angered Queen Elizabeth.

In 1567, Darnley was mysteriously killed in an explosion at Kirk o' Field, and Mary's lover, James Hepburn, the earl of Bothwell, was the key suspect. Although Bothwell was acquitted of the charge, his marriage to Mary in the same year enraged the nobility, and Mary was forced to abdicate in favor of her son by Darnley, James. In 1568, she escaped from captivity and raised a substantial army but was defeated and fled to England. Queen Elizabeth I initially welcomed Mary but was soon forced to put her cousin under house arrest after Mary became the focus of various English Catholic and Spanish plots to overthrow her.

In 1586, a major Catholic plot to murder Elizabeth was uncovered, and Mary was brought to trial, convicted for complicity, and sentenced to death. On February 8, 1587, Mary Queen of Scots was beheaded for treason at Fotheringhay Castle in England. Her son, King James VI of Scotland, calmly accepted his mother's execution, and upon Queen Elizabeth's death in 1603, he became James I, king of England, Scotland, and Ireland.

Letter to You from Yemeni Journalist al-Khaiwani

This is a letter to all of those on the Campaign For a Free Media in Yemen on Facebook.   He has been jailed in Yemen for writing about the government and in Yemen they have no Freedom of the Press and the government can throw people in jail for talking bad about the govenment.

Thank you very much for this campaign, which comes in the context of the overall values that we believe, and they punish us when we believe those values and adopt them. I do not want to talk about myself, but rather the environment that we live in and suffering we endure from the inconsistency between what the authorities announce about democracy and freedoms, and what happens when we believe in those same things, democracy and freedoms.

They want us to practice our rights as they understand them, but we do it ideally. The regime said that democracy is the way of ruling, but when we try to practice our rights within this concept, criticizing the way that the regime governs and how they act, then they deal with us in a way that has no relation to democracy. They deal with us as outlaws. They use all of the state's resources to attack anyone who has any opinions not corresponding with their opinions, and to attack those who even discuss their way of ruling.

What I am suffering and facing is part of the price I and many others pay for the democracy and freedom we hope to achieve in the future. At least we are preparing for a healthy environment that we want the next generation to live in. We believe that democracy and freedom have an expensive price, and this is a part of that price.

However that doesn't mean we will keep silent and bend, as it is the price. We will refuse injustice peacefully. Solidarity is a way to enhance new civil values which support the democracy we will make with our sacrifice and with the support of others. We pay the price of the freedom for ourselves and for the generations after us. Again, thank you very much for your help and support.

ICE Raid in Iowa

Finally they are starting  to go after the illegal immigration employers. We need this on a nation-wide basis and tell the businesses that you can not disobey the law and hire illegal immigrants.   This is long overdue and hopefully the owners will get the full extent of the law thrown at them and the illegals deported.

Postville, Ia. – At least 300 people were arrested today at the Agriprocessors, Inc. meat packing plant, federal officials said.

The operation, which targeted people who illegally used other persons Social Security numbers and were in the U.S. illegally, was the largest of its kind in Iowa, said Claude Arnold, a special agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The workers arrested so far were interviewed by agents with the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Public Health Service. Public health officials were included to ensure that their humanitarian needs were being met, said U.S. District Attorney Matt M. Dummermuth.

Authorities have released 40 of the arrested employees “on humanitarian grounds” with supervision, pending further proceedings, Dummermuth said.

A total of 16 local, state and federal agencies, led by ICE, joined the investigation that began last October. Among them was the U.S. Marshals Service, the Iowa Department of Public Safety, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the U.S.

Department of Agriculture, the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, the Waterloo Police Department and the Postville Police Department.

Agents with ICE have received information about immigration violations at the plant over the past two years, according to a federal search warrant made public today. Authorities said they will release more details at another press conference tomorrow morning in Cedar Rapids.---Des Moines Register
