World War II Weekend at Jefferson Barracks Park
April 25, 26, and 27, 2008For over 20 years the 2nd Ranger Battalion, St. Louis County Parks and Recreation, and the Friends of Jefferson Barracks have brought you World War II Weekend. This year’s event will be held on Friday, April 25, 1p.m. to 5p.m., Saturday, April 26, 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 27, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with camp setup and media day on Friday, April 25, 2008. Over 250 re-enactors will portray American, British, Canadian, Russian, and German soldiers in authentic World War II living history camps. Along with the soldiers, there will be a large collection of authentic gear, uniforms, weapons, and vintage military vehicles--from motorcycles to tanks--on display. The weekend will be highlighted by three battle re-enactments that will take place on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and again on Sunday at 12:00 noon. The re-enactments are held a short distance from the camp and will allow spectators a rare opportunity to see the men, equipment, and vehicles in action. Come and see how the greatest generation lived, worked, and served during the turbulent years of World War II.
